At our May General Membership Meeting, Jennifer Ahler was named the Apex CAPA Volunteer of the Year for 2019. She was awarded the honor in recognition of her friendship, commitment and spirit of service to the Town of Apex and the men and women of the Apex Police Department.
A ‘Volunteer’ is defined as a person who freely offers to take part in a task.
A ‘Dedicated Volunteer’ is a partner, working together with the community, to improve the lives of others.
“Volunteer of the Year” is a distinguished title given to that ONE person whose service transcends expectations and whose ability to ‘give’ exceeds boundaries.
This year’s Volunteer of the Year was always the first to raise her hand, or the first to jump in when assistance was needed. Her peers have described her as a “Pillar” of the CAPA organization.
As the current Secretary of the Board, a member of the Hospitality Committee and as Coordinator of CAPA’s Blanket Buddies program, Jenny has contributed more than 54 volunteer hours in 2018 and 2019. She also serves as an invaluable volunteer for her church and for CERT.
